4th Grade, Nimmons, 04-28 – Code.org Lesson 4: Hello World

There are two videos for today:

3. Objective:
   1. Students will be able to:
      • Add on to a project to include more advanced features.
      • Create an interactive animation using sprites and events.
      • Create new sprites and assign them costumes and locations.
4. Announcements:
   1. The last day for any late work for Q4 is Thursday, June 4th!
      1. This provides 2 weeks at the end of the Quarter for Mr. Smith to grade late work.

6. Today's Lesson: Code.org Lesson 4: Hello World
   1. Vocabulary:
      1. Algorithm - A list of steps to complete a task.
      2. Behavior - An action that a sprite performs continuously until it’s told to stop.
      3. Event - An action that causes something to happen.
      4. Loop - The action of doing something over and over again.
      5. Modify - make partial or minor changes to something, typically so as to improve it
      6. Sprite - A graphic on the screen with a location, size, and appearance.
   2. Today's lesson will be completed in Code.org, which you should log into through Clever.
      1. There are fourteen (14) levels for this lesson. You will need to COMPLETE (PERFECT) levels one thru thirteen (1-13) by meeting the objectives in each portion.
         1. (Level 14 is a Free Play activity meant as a reward for completing 1-13.)

         2. You will know the level is completed because it will have turned a SOLID, BRIGHT GREEN.
         3. If the Level is a pale green or only outlined with green, you will not earn credit for completing it. Revisit the assignment and see what you're missing.
   3. This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. While late work will be accepted up until June 4th, it WILL be late!
