THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS THE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE DAY!

  1. Objective:
    1. Students will be able to:
      • Build a computer program from a set of written instructions.
      • Construct a program by reorganizing sequential movements.
      • Translate movements into a series of commands.
  2. Announcements:
    1. The last day for any late work for Q4 is Thursday, June 4th!
      1. This provides 2 weeks at the end of the Quarter for Mr. Smith to grade late work.
  3. Previous Lessons: Lesson 3, Tux Typing 2, Lesson 4, Lesson 5, Lesson 7, Lesson 8, Lesson 9
  4. Today's Lesson: Code.org Lesson 4: Programming with Angry Birds
    1. Vocabulary:
      1. Algorithm - A list of steps to finish a task.
      2. Click - Press the mouse button
      3. Double-Click - Press the mouse button very quickly
      4. Drag - Click your mouse button and hold as you move the mouse pointer to a new location
      5. Drop - Release your mouse button to "let go" of an item that you are dragging
      6. Program - An algorithm that has been coded into something that can be run by a machine.
      7. Programming - The art of creating a program.
    2. We will begin by using Clever to log into Code.org.
      1. Only Code.org logins done through Clever will show the work that has been assigned.
    3. Students are responsible for EVERY lesson they can see in Course B, though if they are caught up only Lesson 4 will have work to complete.
    4. Today's lesson is split into 10 Levels.
      1. The first level is a video that does not actually apply to our class, so we will not be watching it.
      2. Levels 2-6 build skills.
      3. Level 7 is a CHALLENGE level and therefore is extra credit.
      4. Levels 8-10 are practice levels that review skills learned today.
    5. Grading Rubric:
      1. Students earn 1 point for each level turned BRIGHT GREEN by completing it.
      2. Pale green Levels are incomplete and therefore not counted.
      3. CHALLENGE Levels are counted as Extra Credit.
      4. FREE PLAY Levels are rewards for completing the work and are not graded.
    6. This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. While late work will be accepted up until June 4th, it WILL be late!
