2nd Grade, Howard, 10-06 – Music: Rhythm

Announcements:

  1. The last day for any late work is Friday, October 16th!
    1. All work not completed by then will remain a zero.
    2. Any work assigned after then is due the same day.

Objective:

  1. Students will use a variety of online tools to develop an understanding of digital music creation aesthetics and techniques.

1:30-1:40: Start of Class

  1. Students will find their assigned seats and be walked through the process for logging into the computers. (Students who were in Mr. Smith's room last year may remember how to do this, but reminders are good for everyone.)
  2. Students will go to the front of the class, where Mr. Smith will walk them through the assignment for the day.

1:40-2:20: Instruction & Student Work

  1. Students will work on a digital music lesson.
    1. Rubric, Objective, Standards, and links can be found here.
    2. Today we are using the following music tool:
      1. Rhythm - A tool from Chrome Music Lab that allows students to create simple rhythms.
    3. Students are being asked to create rhythms and see what patterns they can make within the constraints of the software.
    4. Additional instruction will be given as "wonderings," and suggestions based on what students have tried so far. As their choices cannot be predicted those details cannot be included here.

2:20-2:30: End of Class

  1. Students will showcase their work to their peers before shutting down their computers and lining up to return to their classroom.
