- January Theme: New Perspectives
- A new year is the perfect time to see the world differently. January’s theme challenges photographers to shift perspective—shoot from above, below, through, or around a subject. By changing where the camera is placed, students can transform everyday scenes into unexpected, dynamic images. This theme encourages curiosity, risk-taking, and creative problem-solving.
- Ideas to try this month
- Shoot from a worm’s-eye view (low to the ground) or bird’s-eye view (looking down).
- Frame your subject through objects like doors, windows, hands, or leaves.
- Tilt the camera or experiment with leading lines to guide the viewer’s eye.
- Try macro or extreme close-ups to reveal details we usually overlook.
- Photograph a familiar place in an unfamiliar way.
- Try This Mini-Challenge
Photograph one object three ways: from above, from below, and straight on. Compare how the story changes with each perspective.
- Resources
- Students may submit 1–2 photos to https://bit.ly/PGCPS
DPC highlighting perspective by the end of the month; standout work will be featured on Instagram @pgcpsmediaarts and Gallery.
