Hello BDF family! As expressed in my class dojo message yesterday, we will be learning a new workflow for coding HTML webpages using our in class computers. The steps we'll go over apply to all other devices that have both folders for files as well as a plain text editor. Essentially, students will be learning how to navigate their devices to find their text editors (which we'll use to practice HTML coding) and how to load their saved HTML file onto their device's browser.
Of course, this is only part of what we'll learn today, as we'll be continuing where we left off with some beginner tags that HTML uses. I've stressed to students that I will take my time explaining these new concepts to them as this is essentially learning how to "speak computer" to the computer. They will be updating their notes with new information, and the goal is for students to understand the basic tags like <body>, <p>, <h1>, and <head>. Students will also understand how to use "open" and "closed" tags to note the start and end of each conversation to the computer. We will be continuing these practices throughout the quarter, so questions are welcome in this class at all times (my e-mail is ainsworth.williams@pgcps.org if questions need to be asked outside of class time and I will answer asap).
