2 pts Take a moment to use your best grammar and spelling. 3 pts Answer the following questions:
"Why did you pick your major?"
"What do you want to accomplish in Technology Concepts?" - Warm-Ups are usually a 5 point Independent Work grade if a written response is expected, or a 5 point Assessment grade if the Warm-Up is a quiz. They are due at the start of class and not eligible for late submission or re-submission.

- Monthly Media Arts Incentive:
- "Arcade Day" at the end of the month.
- February's Arcade Day is scheduled for 02/28/2025.
- Students remain eligible unless a Notice of Concern has been earned that month for grades or behavior, though a student who missed out from low grades can earn back their Arcade Day privileges if they bring their grade back up.
- Check SchoolMax - if your avg is 70% or above, you're probably eligible.

- Project 1, Due 02-04
- There will be four (4) projects due this Quarter, spaced roughly 2 weeks apart.
- [It was found that while three (3) projects gave more time, a low grade on one project wrecked the average for the Quarter.]
- [It was also found that while five (5) projects made certain that no one project could ruin an average, there was little time to get anything done.]
- While students in this class will usually get to choose which projects they want to do, there are some non-negotiable activities mandated by PGCPS.
- Everyone's Project 1 for this Quarter must be one of the "Core" projects in the top left section. For your convenience, direct links are shared below:

- Media Arts majors who are taking this course must hand in a NEW Core project, not one they handed in for Media Arts.
- Mr. Smith will introduce software and techniques over the next few days to help students do their best on this and other projects.
- Complete Pre-Production By 01-29!
- "Those who fail to plan plan to fail."
- Planning out and prepping for the production phase makes everything else easier.
- For a beginning digital artist, every 1 minute of pre-production can easily save 5 minutes of post-production, if not more. Being lazy on this step requires more work later. Who wants to do more work?
- (While more experience can always bring that ratio down, it never reaches 1:1.)
- Complete Production By 01-31!
- This step should take the least amount of time. Most of your work for most projects should be pre- or post-production.
- Complete And Hand In Post-Production By 02-04!
- This is when you hand in your work, not when you start your post-production.
- Students who wait until the day a project is due tend to run into last minute problems that can't be fixed in a day.
- When in doubt, export what you have and hand it in. An unfinished but viewable project will always earn more points than an unviewable or late project!
- Projects are 100 point Classwork grades, and are not eligible for late submission.
- Projects are eligible for re-submission, but only once and with a limited window. These details are covered in the syllabus and will be reviewed in more detail after Critique Day.
- "Put Out Fires" Day is 02-06!
- Ideally this is a day to begin work on Project 2. It is built in as a day to deal with emergencies that happened while working on Project 1.
- If you are beginning Project 1 today, you are going to have a rushed, incomplete project.
- Critique Day: 02-10!
- The work that's handed in will be shown to the rest of the class, and students will be asked to critique the work of their peers.
- Every student will be expected to critique a minimum of ten (10) student-submitted projects, with additional critiques scored as extra credit.
- Each critique can earn up to three (3) points.
- One point for meaningful positive feedback.
- One point for actionable constructive feedback.
- One point for the feedback being specific to the project being critiqued. ("Good job!" is not specific feedback!)
- Each critique can earn up to three (3) points.
- Critiques are a 30 point Assessment grade and are not eligible for re-submission or late submission.

- Week 1 Exit Ticket
- Every Exit Ticket will be due during the last 10 minutes of the last B Day of the week. It will ask the same two questions:
- What did you accomplish in Media Arts (Technology Concepts) this week?
- What did you learn in Media Arts (Technology Concepts) this week?
- Exit Tickets will almost always be submitted through Canvas.
- Students are expected to have meaningful answers for both questions. An answer of "I didn't learn anything" might be honest, but it implies that off-task behavior took place.
- Proofreading answers is an important part of any written assignment, and grades will reflect a failure to do so.
- Exit Tickets are always 10 point Classwork grades and not eligible for late submission or re-submission. They are due during the last 10 minutes of the last class of the week.
