THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS TODAY'S EXPECTATIONS! (137 days until the 1st day of next school year!)
Today's to-do list includes the following items:
- Warm-Up:
- 2024-04-09 Warm-Up Quiz: Stages of Production Vocabulary
- Warm-Ups are usually a 5 point Independent Work grade if a written response is expected, or a 5 point Assessment grade if the Warm-Up is a quiz. They are due at the start of class and not eligible for late submission or re-submission.

- Monthly Incentives
- Monthly Media Arts Incentive:
- "Arcade Day" at the end of the month.
- April's Arcade Day is scheduled for 04/30/2024.
- Students remain eligible unless a Notice of Concern has been earned that month for grades or behavior, though a student who missed out from low grades can earn back their Arcade Day privileges if they bring their grade back up.
- Check SchoolMax - if your avg is 70% or above, you're probably eligible.
- "Arcade Day" at the end of the month.
- Monthly Media Arts Incentive:
- Syllabus
- The class syllabus will always be linked at the top of these daily announcements.
- WeVideo
- While most projects in this course do not depend on a specific app, WeVideo is a web based program that is useful for recording/editing video and audio on student ChromeBooks.
- This is a "freemium" app, requiring a subscription to unlock its most useful features. Fortunately, PGCPS has paid the subscription fee for you! Use this link to set up your account for this year!
- WeVideo is not the only recording software you are allowed to use, but it is the most "feature rich" software we have that will work on school ChromeBooks.
- Alternate tools include 123Apps.com and even Canvas' Studio.
- Q4 Project 1, Due 04-12
- Everyone's Project 1 for this Quarter must be one of the "Core" projects in the top left section. For your convenience, direct links are shared below:
- Digital Citizenship 1: Netiquette
- Digital Citizenship 2: Fact Checking
- Copyright and Creative Commons
- Digital Citizenship 4: Interland Review
- Media Arts majors who are taking this course must hand in a NEW Core project, not one they handed in for Media Arts.
Complete Pre-Production By 04-03!Complete Production By 04-05!- Complete And Hand In Post-Production By 04-09!
- This is when you hand in your work, not when you start your post-production.
- Students who wait until the day a project is due tend to run into last minute problems that can't be fixed in a day.
- When in doubt, export what you have and hand it in. An unfinished but viewable project will always earn more points than an unviewable or late project!
- Projects are 100 point Classwork grades, and are not eligible for late submission.
- Projects are eligible for re-submission, but only once and with a limited window. These details are covered in the syllabus and will be reviewed in more detail after Critique Day.
- "Put Out Fires" Day is 04-12!
- Ideally this is a day to begin work on Project 2. It is built in as a day to deal with emergencies that happened while working on Project 1.
- If you are beginning Project 1 today, you are going to have a rushed, incomplete project.
- Critique Day: 04-16!
- The work that's handed in will be shown to the rest of the class, and students will be asked to critique the work of their peers.
- Every student will be expected to critique a minimum of ten (10) student-submitted projects, with additional critiques scored as extra credit.
- Each critique can earn up to three (3) points.
- One point for meaningful positive feedback.
- One point for actionable constructive feedback.
- One point for the feedback being specific to the project being critiqued. ("Good job!" is not specific feedback!)
- Each critique can earn up to three (3) points.
- Critiques are a 30 point Assessment grade and are not eligible for re-submission or late submission.
