Media Arts Majors, 11-02-2023

THIS VIDEO GOES OVER TODAY'S EXPECTATIONS!

  1. Warm-Up:
    1. Directions: Use the "Reply" button to ask Mr. Smith a question.
      1. You should NOT already know the answer. (If we've covered it several times this year, you should know it.)
      2. It should NOT be a question that can easily be answered by doing a Google Search.
      3. It SHOULD be a question that relates to Media Arts.
    2. Warm-Ups are usually a 5 point Independent Work grade if a written response is expected, or a 5 point Assessment grade if the Warm-Up is a quiz. They are due at the start of class and not eligible for late submission or resubmission.
  2. Monthly Incentives
    1. Monthly Media Arts Incentive:
      1. "Arcade Day" at the end of the month.
        1. November's Arcade Day is scheduled for 11/30/2023.
      2. Students remain eligible unless a Notice of Concern has been earned that month for grades or behavior, though a student who missed out from low grades can earn back their Arcade Day privileges if they bring their grade back up.
        1. Check SchoolMax - if your avg is 70% or above, you're probably eligible.
  3. Q2 Project 1
    1. Due 11/17
      1. 10/25 Film Festival Overview, select project, begin script.
      2. 10/27 Share script draft with peers, collect feedback.
      3. 10/31 (Arcade Day!) (Students with less than 70% will have an alternate activity.)
      4. 11/02 (Last day of Q1) Revise scripts. Begin storyboards.
      5. 11/06 Share script and storyboard drafts with peers, collect feedback. (You will be asked to share the feedback for a grade!)
      6. 11/08 Revise scripts/storyboards.
      7. 11/13 Share script and storyboard drafts with peers, collect feedback. (You will be asked to share the feedback for a grade!)
      8. 11/15 Revise scripts/storyboards.
      9. 11/17 Project Due!
      10. 11/21 Critique Day!
  4. Festival Entry 1: Pre-Production
    1. The PGCPS Film Festival is our annual COUNTY-WIDE BIG EVENT. Skipping out on any part of this will do bad things for your grades. (Plural. Multiple grades.)
    2. The Technical Assessment (Your Final Exam) has a significant portion dedicated to what you did for this year's Film Festival. Not the Festival in general, but YOUR specific entry.
  5. Projects are 100 point Classwork grades, and are not eligible for late submission.
  6. Feedback from the critiques is provided in the Canvas assignment for that project.
  7. Projects are eligible for resubmission, but only once. They must be resubmitted using the same form as before, and no later than 10 days after feedback has been shared with them in Canvas.
    1. Film Fest Addendum: Because Entry 1 is needed to complete Entry 2, and Entry 2 is needed to complete Entry 3, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you QUICKLY make any suggested revisions and hand them in before starting the next project. To do otherwise will waste your time, lower your grades, and, worst of all, lower the quality of your final project.
  8. Deadlines for future projects are not adjusted. Students are encouraged to not put off starting Project 2 because they've decided to work on redoing Project 3 from scratch.

Exit Ticket

  1. 2023-11-02 Exit Ticket
    1. 4 pts Proofread your work.
3 pts What did you accomplish in Media Arts today?
3 pts What did you learn in Media Arts today?
    2. NOTE: If you do not describe WHAT you did while working on your project, saying you worked on it is not enough information to earn credit.
  2. Exit Tickets are always 10 point Classwork grades and not eligible for late submission or resubmission. They are due during the last 10 minutes of class.
