Today's to-do list includes the following items:
THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS TODAY'S EXPECTATIONS!

    1. Announcements:
      1. Lesson 11 (2nd attempt due 10/16), and Lesson 13 (2nd attempt due 10/19) await your 2nd attempts.
        1. You MUST resubmit the assignment in Canvas for me to know you're ready for me to check it.
        2. I WILL NOT CHECK THIS ASSIGNMENT AGAIN UNLESS YOU TELL ME THERE THAT YOU'RE READY BY RESUBMITTING THE ASSIGNMENT IN CANVAS! You get one attempt to fix your 1st try. Make it count.
        3. NO late work will be accepted after October 19th (2 weeks before the end of the Quarter.) To allow late work later than that would not give me time to grade it.
  1. Warm-Up:
    1. Today's Warm-Up is a Scavenger Hunt.
      1. You have 7 minutes.
      2. You may work with a partner or by yourself. Keep in mind that some "partners" may slow you down.
    2. Warm-Ups are usually a 4-5 point Independent Work grade if a written response is expected, or a 5 point Assessment grade if the Warm-Up is a quiz. They are due at the start of class and not eligible for late submission or resubmission.
  2. Supplementary Video:
    1. The Internet: How Search Works (5:12)
  3. Vocabulary
    • Relevant - closely connected to a topic
    • Search Engine - A program that searches for items on the World Wide Web.
    • Trustworthy - reliable, honest, and truthful
  4. Introduced Code
    • No new code.
  5. Class Activities:
    1. Lesson 16: Sources and Research
      1. Make a copy of this worksheet.
        1. Put your name at the top of the worksheet where indicated (Do this right now!)
        2. Make sure to set the permissions so Mr. Smith can see it.
        3. Hand in the share link in the text box in Canvas. (Again, do this right now!)
      2. Work with a partner (YOU MAY ONLY WORK IN GROUPS OF 1 OR 2!) to come up with a topic you wish to research.
        1. The topic should be something that both you and your partner want to learn more about.
        2. Think of 3 questions relating to that topic to ask that you can research online and to which you actually want to know the answers.
        3. As you look for the answers to these questions, provide descriptions using the included chart.
        4. With the research complete, reflect on what you can look for to determine if a site is trustworthy or not.
      3. Remember that we don't have the time for "busy-work." This is a lesson that Mr. Smith decided was important enough to focus on, so it's important enough to be graded.
      4. If you manage to finish early, revisit one of the coding lessons in the announcements and make sure you've earned a perfect score.
