THIS VIDEO GOES OVER THE EXPECTATIONS FOR TODAY!
Our 2nd semester will focus more on coding than media creation, though we will have other lessons sprinkled in.
Regardless of the lesson, FouloisTech.info should be your destination every time you come into class. This space will be used to provide announcements, lessons, and other resources.
- Objective:
-
Students will be able to:
- Construct a program using structures that repeat areas of code
- Improve existing code by finding areas of repetition and moving them into looping structures
-
- Announcements:
- The last day for late work is Thursday, March 20th!
- This deadline is 2 weeks before the end of the Quarter. That time is needed to ensure all late work handed in before then is graded in a timely fashion.
- For the last 2 weeks of the Quarter, all assignments must be handed in on the day they're assigned unless there is an excused absence on file.
- Previous Lessons: Lesson 2, Lesson 3, Lesson 4, Lesson 6 & Quiz 1, Lesson 7, Lesson 8, Lesson 9
- The last day for late work is Thursday, March 20th!
- Today's Lesson: Code.org Lesson 10: Loops in Ice Age
- Vocabulary:
- Algorithm - A list of steps to finish a task.
- Bug - Part of a program that does not work correctly.
- Collaborate - Work together on an activity
- Debugging - Finding and fixing problems in an algorithm or program.
- Decompose - Break problems down into smaller steps.
- Event - An action that causes something to happen.
- Functions - Functions are blocks of code designed to perform a particular task. When composing music, students can use functions to encapsulate parts of their songs, such as a melody or a beat.
- Hardware - The physical parts of the computer that you can see and touch, like the monitor, the central processing unit (CPU), the keyboard, and the mouse.
- Loop - The action of doing something over and over again.
- Program - An algorithm that has been coded into something that can be run by a machine.
- Programming - The art of creating a program.
- Software - Instructions that tells the hardware how to do specific tasks.
- Code.org levels should be completed in Code.org, which you should log into through Clever.
- IF YOU HAVE NOT YET COMPLETED THE PREVIOUS LESSONS, DO THOSE FIRST! These instructions assume you've completed them!
- There are twelve (12) levels for this lesson. You will need to COMPLETE (PERFECT) at least eleven (11) of them by meeting the objectives in each portion.
-
- Level 10 is a "Challenge" Level and therefore is extra credit.
- You will know the bubble is completed because it will have turned a SOLID, BRIGHT GREEN.
- If the bubble is a pale green or only outlined with green, you will not earn credit for completing it. Revisit the assignment and see what you're missing.
- Vocabulary:
- This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. Please stay on task to complete this work by the end of class!
