Please forgive the brevity of this lesson as I recover from carpal tunnel. This video was made for a different class but the content remains the same.

  1. Objective:
    1. Students will begin editing videos based on their storyboards to understand the techniques behind "movie magic."
  2. Announcements:
    1. No late work for this Quarter will be accepted after Monday, January 12th!
      1. This deadline is 2 weeks before the end of the Quarter and is far more lenient than PGCPS policy.
      2. Work owed from unexcused absences will still not be accepted.
      3. Between January 12th and the last day of the Quarter, PGCPS policy will be followed.
  3. Previous Lessons: Audio 1, Audio 2, Audio 3, Audio 4, Audio 5, Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, Video 4, Video 5, Video 6
  4. Today's Lesson: Video 4: Magic Trick Edit (1 of 2)
    1. Grading Rubric: (For Video 5)
4 Pts Video is easy to see and audio is easy to hear.
3 Pts Video uses an edit to create a magic trick.
3 Pts Video has a title and credits.
    2. Today, we are going to use WeVideo.
    3. Download your recording and import it into WeVideo.
    4. Follow Mr. Smith's directions for moving the playhead to where you want to make cuts.
    5. Delete the part where you were getting things into position!
    6. Move the clips so there's no empty space in-between!
    7. Delete any fragments or flubs that don't belong in your finished video!
    8. Watch your edit so far!
      1. Are you happy with it?
      2. Is there anything you'd like to change?
    9. (We will add a title and credits before exporting and handing in the video next class.)
    10. These video tutorials can help if you're stuck on a certain part:
      1. WeVideo - Recording (2:39)
      2. WeVideo - Cuts (1:56)
    11. Use the text box in Canvas to write a sentence about something you noticed when using WeVideo today.
      1. Proofread your sentence and press the button to hand it in.
      2. DO NOT UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO TODAY! WE'RE NOT DONE EDITING!
  5. This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. Please stay on task to complete this work by the end of class!
