Photography Club Theme: Hidden Details
October Theme: Hidden Details
Sometimes the most interesting photographs are found in the things we usually overlook! Octoberโs theme, Hidden Details, challenges you to slow down, look closer, and discover the small details, textures, patterns, and shapes hiding in everyday life. From the veins of a fall leaf and the texture of tree bark to the details of a sneaker or patterns in architecture, there are great photographs waiting to be discovered everywhere.
This month, experiment with close-up and macro-style photography. You donโt need a special cameraโa smartphone works great! Move closer to your subject, pay attention to focus and lighting, and think about how filling the frame can turn an ordinary object into an extraordinary photograph.
This Monthโs Challenge
Capture 1โ2 photographs that reveal a detail people might normally walk past without noticing. Try experimenting with:
- Fill the Frame โ Get close and eliminate distracting backgrounds.
- Texture โ Look for rough, smooth, fuzzy, cracked, shiny, or layered surfaces.
- Patterns & Repetition โ Find repeating shapes, lines, colors, or objects.
- Focus โ Choose one small detail to make the star of your photograph.
- Natural Light โ Notice how light from the side can reveal texture and dimension.
