Media Arts Majors, 01-27-2026 – Q3P1 Pre-Production

NO VIDEO TODAY (My hand was doing better until I shoveled out my car Monday morning.)

Note: As of this note being made, our next school day will be Friday, 01-30-2026. This will be the content for our first B-Day upon our return, regardless of the actual calendar date. (The schedule below will be updated accordingly.)

  1. Objective:
    1. Students will plan their work for their first project of 3rd Quarter.
  2. Warm-Up: 2026-01-27: Darnall's Chance Trip Prep
    1. Team Leads: Give me your 1st & 2nd choice for who you trust to go on the trip and record all of your team's shots. (You can also do the next part, but if you don't give me names, I'm picking them myself.)
    2. Everyone Else: Give me a question to pass on to the historians.
    3. Warm-Ups are usually a 5 point Independent Work grade if a written response is expected, or a 5 point Assessment grade if the Warm-Up is a quiz. They are due at the start of class and not eligible for late submission or re-submission.
  3. Announcements:
    1. January's Arcade Day is scheduled for Thursday, January 29th.
      1. You will need to have a 70% OR HIGHER in this class to be eligible.
      2. This does not change any deadlines.
      3. This will also be a T-Shirt Printing Day.
      4. Instead of Arcade Day, we all got a Snow Day.
    2. NPR Student Podcast Challenge for 2026
      1. The 2026 edition of the Student Podcast Challenge will open on Jan. 5 and close on June 5. But if you'd like to be considered for their special America 250 prize, the deadline is May 1.

    5. Projects are 100 point Classwork grades, and are not eligible for late submission.
    6. Feedback from the critiques is provided in the Canvas assignment for that project.
    7. Projects are eligible for re-submission, but only once. They must be resubmitted using the same form as before, and no later than 10 days after feedback has been shared with them in Canvas. The 4th project of each Quarter is not eligible for re-submission due to its proximity to the end of the Quarter!
    8. Deadlines for future projects are not adjusted. Students are encouraged to not put off starting Project 4 because they've decided to work on redoing Project 3 from scratch.

  6. Exit Tickets are always 10 point Classwork grades and not eligible for late submission or re-submission. They are due during the last 10 minutes of the last class of the week.
