Weekly Update Media Arts 11/17-11/21

Hello BDF Family, it has been a while since my last post. We have kicked the quarter off going over many essential lessons meant to help us understand the depth of critical thinking that goes into planning and capturing our stories in our videos/animations. This ranged between lighting and script writing.

This week, we are locking in our planning for both upcoming Film Festival and Amplify Awards projects, where a student's work will have a chance to be showcased and possibly win awards as we compete against other schools in the county. Of course, the real point of this is to help students push themselves to be better than their last time, putting what they've learned into practice as they continue to improve. These projects will have the most weight this quarter as they both make-up our midterm grades. Today students had to complete their planning in the form of answering 7 questions for each of these entries, which in turn would allow them to complete both scripts fully by the end of the week as a separate grade.

Students that plan the most tend to have the strongest videos, so they have been advised to use their time wisely. Hence, I will not hold back on consequences for those that dare not finish, especially with all the screens I saw today with people playing games instead of getting a head start on their script. They have been warned. I look forward to reading complete scripts with the proper action blocks and dialogue blocks by the end of this week. Do note that finishing it early will allow me to give a review on it much earlier in case changes need to be made in accordance to the rules only. I will not be helping out in this process as I've already signed a contract stating that I will not interfere in their creative process.
