1st Grade, L. Johnson, 11-05 – Code.org Lesson 3: Sequencing with Angry Birds

  1. Objective:
    1. Students will be able to:
      • Experiment with standard block-based programming actions such as: clicking, drag and drop, etc.
  2. Announcements:
    1. No late work for this Quarter will be accepted after Monday, January 12th!
      1. This deadline is 2 weeks before the end of the Quarter and is far more lenient than PGCPS policy.
      2. Work owed from unexcused absences will still not be accepted.
      3. Between January 12th and the last day of the Quarter, PGCPS policy will be followed.
  3. Vocabulary:
    1. Click - Press the mouse button
    2. Double-Click - Press the mouse button very quickly
    3. Drag - Click your mouse button and hold as you move the mouse pointer to a new location
    4. Drop - Release your mouse button to "let go" of an item that you are dragging
  4. Today's Lesson: Code.org Lesson 3: Sequencing with Angry Birds
    1. We will begin by using Clever to log into Code.org.
      1. Only Code.org logins done through Clever will show the work that has been assigned.
    2. The only lesson that should be visible is the one for today: Lesson 3.
    3. Today's lesson is split into 7 Levels.
      1. The first level is a video that we will watch together in class.
      2. Levels 2-7 are activities meant to build student coding skills.
    4. Grading Rubric:
      1. Students earn 1 point for each level turned BRIGHT GREEN by completing it.
      2. Pale green Levels are incomplete and therefore not counted.
      3. CHALLENGE Levels are counted as Extra Credit.
      4. FREE PLAY Levels are rewards for completing the work and are not graded.
    5. This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. Please stay on task to complete this work by the end of class!
