Media Arts Majors, 08-29-2025 – Inkscape Logo

TODAY'S VIDEO OVERVIEW IS HERE!

  • Objective:
    1. Students will create personal logos in Inkscape to watermark future projects and gain familiarity with vector graphics tools.
  • Warm-Up:
    1. SGM Pre-Test
      1. Complete this 20 question multiple choice test WITHOUT engaging in conversation.
      2. As a PRE-TEST, you will get a score for completing the work. Do your best, but do not panic if you get any questions wrong. This is content we WILL be covering, not content that incoming students are already expected to know.
      3. If you finish early, go to OpenClipArt.org and find an image that relates to you. It will be used in today's project.
    2. Warm-Ups are usually a 5 point Independent Work grade if a written response is expected, or a 5 point Assessment grade if the Warm-Up is a quiz. They are due at the start of class and not eligible for late submission or re-submission.
  • Announcements:

          3. 25%: Image consists of no more than 2 colors. (In this case, black and white count as colors. Blue and a lighter blue would also count as two colors.)
          4. 25%: Silhouette art is taken from OpenClipArt.org (or PublicDomainVectors.org) and a proper citation is handed in along with the assignment.
        2. The work for this project is involved enough for it to be better to watch this video tutorial than have Mr. Smith type it up here.
        3. This assignment is due IN CLASS. If it is not finished by the time we start work on the exit ticket, save what you have and hand it in anyway! If all you have is a source image, that can still earn 25%. If you hand in nothing, it's a 0 you can't fix!

  • Feedback from the critiques is provided in the Canvas assignment for that project.
  • Projects are eligible for re-submission, but only once. They must be resubmitted using the same form as before, and no later than 10 days after feedback has been shared with them in Canvas. The 4th project of each Quarter is not eligible for re-submission due to its proximity to the end of the Quarter!
  • Deadlines for future projects are not adjusted. Students are encouraged to not put off starting Project 4 because they've decided to work on redoing Project 3 from scratch.
