5th Grade, Green, 12-06 – Video 1

THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS THE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE DAY!

Our 1st semester will focus on media creation, while or 2nd semester will focus more on coding.

Regardless of the lesson, FouloisTech.info should be your destination every time you come into class. This space will be used to provide announcements, lessons, and other resources.

  1. Objective:
    1. Students will create a "punny" script to prepare for their animation project.
  2. Announcements:
    1. No late work for this Quarter will be accepted after Friday, January 10th!
      1. This deadline is 2 weeks before the end of the Quarter. That time is needed to ensure all late work handed in before then is graded in a timely fashion.
    2. Previous lessons: Audio 1, Audio 2, Audio 3, Audio 4, Audio 5
  1. Today's Lesson: Video 1: Animation Script
    1. Note: Animation is one of the categories in the annual PGCPS Student Film Festival! Recordings that are well done may be considered for entry into the contest!
    2. Grading Rubric:
4 Points Story has very few spelling and/or grammatical errors. Proofread!
3 Points Story has one animal tell an animal themed joke to another animal, and includes the other animal's reaction.
3 Points Story is appropriate for school.
      1. Today, Mr. Smith is going to show you how WeVideo can be used to create an animation.
      2. Think about how simple changes to character placement, tone of voice, character design, and camera directions can change how the audience perceives the character.
      3. Use the paper handout (or the text box in Canvas) and write a short script where Animal A greets Animal B, shares an animal themed joke, and gets a reaction from Animal B.
        1. While any school-appropriate animal themed joke is fair game, puns are encouraged.
        2. A variety of animal art licensed for reuse has been collected for this lesson. It's suggested you browse these images to get an idea of what characters you might want to include.
          1. If you want to use an animal not included in the above link, Mr. Smith might be able to find it for you.
          2. Here's the an example of a script for this project:
Fox: Hey, want to hear a joke?
Crab: No! I don’t like your jokes! They’re always puns! I hate puns!
Fox: Wow, that’s a little mean. Why do you always have to be so ...
            Crab: Don’t say it….
            Fox: … Crabby?
            Crab: Aaaaauuuuuuuuugh!
      4. Proofread your script! If you're following the step above, you may have already noticed some spelling or grammatical errors. Fix them as you find them in order to avoid losing points later.
  2. This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. Please stay on task to complete this work by the end of class!
