5th Grade, McCrae, 10-24 – Graphics 2

THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS THE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE DAY!

Our 1st semester will focus on media creation, while or 2nd semester will focus more on coding.

Regardless of the lesson, FouloisTech.info should be your destination every time you come into class. This space will be used to provide announcements, lessons, and other resources.

  1. Objective:
    1. Students will create photographs to better understand proper and responsible camera use.
  2. Announcements:
    1. Arts Assessments are December 2-December 6! These will determine your major for next year! Be ready!
      1. If you picked Media Arts as a 1st or 2nd choice, BE READY! This document goes over what's required!
    2. The deadline for late work was Thursday, October 17th!
      1. While most/all of you are caught up on your work, every assignment for the rest of Q1 is due on the day it's assigned and CANNOT be handed in late without an excused absence!
      2. This deadline is 2 weeks before the end of the Quarter. That time is needed to ensure all late work handed in before then is graded in a timely fashion.
    3. Audio 1Audio 2, Audio 3, Audio 4, and Audio 5 are past due!
    4. Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, Video 4, Video 5, and Video 6 are past due!
    5. Graphics 1 is past due!
  3. Today's Lesson: Graphic Design 2: Rule of Thirds Photography
    1. Grading Rubric:
4 Points Photo shows no sign of camera shake and does not have any people in it.
3 Points Photo has a focal point that follows the Rule of Thirds.
3 Points Photo shows a point of view not commonly at eye level.
    2. Today, Mr. Smith is going to show you some basics about photography. These include:
      1. How to hold the camera still when taking a picture.
      2. How to get the camera to focus before taking the picture.
      3. How to arrange what you see in the viewfinder to get an interesting composition.
      4. This YouTube Video covers the Rule of Thirds, but you only need to watch it if you aren't in class. Mr. Smith will also cover this in person.
      5. Most photos are taken at the photographer's eye level (standing or sitting). This does not make these photos bad, but sometimes a shot taken at an unusual height or in an unusual angle can make it be more interesting.
    3. Mr. Smith has cameras for you to use in class for this assignment. You will be given a set time to take ten (10) photos.
    4. When you've taken your ten (10) photos, Mr. Smith will help you transfer them to your computer.
    5. Look over your photos and the rubric above Select the BEST photo based on those criteria and hand it in via Canvas.
  1. This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. Please stay on task to complete this work by the end of class!
