THIS VIDEO REVIEWS THE MOST IMPORTANT CONTENT COVERED IN CLASS TODAY!

  1. Objective:
    1. Students will begin work on their end-of-course project to demonstrate what they have learned.
  2. Warm-Up:
    1. Complete this quiz on CSS code.
      1. Remember, all quizzes in this class are open notes, but NOT group work.
    2. Warm-Ups are usually a 10 point weekly Independent Work Notebook Check grade if a written response is expected, or a 5 point Assessment grade if the Warm-Up is a quiz. They are due at the start of class and not eligible for late submission or re-submission.

Deadlines: (Content is subject to change due to various factors.)

  1. Warm-Ups: Due daily
    1. 10-18: Week 8 Assignments Due
      1. Lesson 18: CSS Pseudo-classes
  2. 10-25: Week 9 Assignments Due
    1. Lesson 16: Sources and Research (Postponed)
    2. Lesson 20: Project - Website for a Purpose (Due Monday, Oct 28)
      1. Schedule:

        1. Oct 22: Finish planning, code one page well, duplicate as needed.
        2. Oct 24: Ensure menu works properly, customize each page as needed.
        3. Oct 28: Finalize & submit project.
        4. Oct 30: 8th Grade Field Trip: George Mason University (Last B Day of Q1)
      2. Grading Rubric (1 pt each unless otherwise stated)
        1. Planning: Documentation for all of the design decisions for the 4 page website is included.
        2. Purpose: The website has a clear purpose, and each of the 4 pages somehow supports that purpose.
        3. HTML: HTML used to add all needed content to every web page correctly.
        4. Modularity: All 4 pages use the same stylesheet to apply consistent formatting rules to all web pages.
        5. CSS: CSS used to control the HTML content's appearance on all 4 pages correctly.
        6. Classes: The site uses classes to create different rules for groups of elements, so elements with the same tag can have different styles according to the class rules.
        7. Code Readability: White space and indentation used to make the HTML and stylesheet code consistently well-formatted and easier to read on every page. All pages and images have names that make sense.
        8. Proofreading: There are no syntax errors on any HTML page or the CSS code, and the page renders correctly.
        9. Copyright (2 pts): All images have been cited, and credit is given to the creators.
    3. Week 9 Exit Ticket
  3. There will be work due during Week 10, but as the last week in the Quarter it will follow a slightly different format.

Exit Ticket

  1. Week 9 Exit Ticket (Due on 10-25)
  2. 4 pts Proofread your work.
3 pts What did you accomplish in CS Discoveries this week?
3 pts What did you learn in CS Discoveries this week?
  3. NOTE: If you do not describe WHAT you did, saying you worked on it is not enough information to earn credit.
    1. Example: "I completed Unit 2 Lesson 1" says nothing about what you did or learned. Describe what you did and what you learned as if to someone who does not have access to the course materials.
  4. Exit Tickets are always 10 point Classwork grades and not eligible for late submission or re-submission. They are due during the last 10 minutes of the last class of the week.
