- Announcements
- Quality-of-Work-Update
- TL;DR: Stop doing slideshows with music. It's been done.
- It is understandable that some of your first three projects focused more on the content being researched than your editing/production skills. That was intentionally allowed by the rubrics.
- The first 3 projects are done. If you're here to learn, push yourself with every project. If you keep doing the same thing for every project, how can you prove that you're here to learn?
- Equipment Use Update
- Students have been borrowing cameras without asking for permission. Please do not do this, as you may lose permission to ever touch the cameras again.
- If you have not asked for permission to be in the hallway, going into the hallway may result in you never getting permission again. Do not be the student who demonstrates this.
- NEW COMPUTERS ARE COMING!
- My supervisor has secured funding to get new computers for BOTH Media Arts classes. I do not have a date when they will arrive (they have to be sent to the PGCPS Technology Distribution Center to be imaged first), but they WILL arrive.
- Monthly Media Arts Incentive:
- "Arcade Day" at the end of the month.
- October's Arcade Day is scheduled for Thursday, October 31st. (The last day of Q1!)
- October's Arcade Day is scheduled for Thursday, October 31st. (The last day of Q1!)
- Students remain eligible unless a Notice of Concern has been earned that month for grades or behavior, though a student who missed out from low grades can earn back their Arcade Day privileges if they bring their grade back up.
- Check Canvas - if your avg is 70% or above, you're probably eligible.
- Ineligible students should be working on a project re-submission or their next project.
- Arcade Days do not change project deadlines! All work is still due!
- "Arcade Day" at the end of the month.
- I have written a computer buying guide, because I am frequently asked about what's worth buying.
- Parents are NOT obligated to buy you a computer for this class. While having a computer at home can make the coursework easier, the lessons are designed to be done during class time.
- My after school TTRPG club permission slips are due by Oct 10th.
- This is a totally optional club that involves playing tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons. I have already had permission slips returned to me, but will continue to accept more until Oct 10th.
- The FILM FEST GUIDELINES have been released!
- This is an edited version of the official guidelines. Links to hand the videos in have been removed as only teachers are allowed to do that part.
- Quality-of-Work-Update
- Q1 Project deadlines:
- Q1P3: Digital Citizenship 3: Copyright and Creative Commons
- Re-submits due by 10/12/2024.

- Thursday, Oct 10, Post-Production Due
- Monday, Oct 14, Q1P4 Due! "Put Out Fires" Day
- Wednesday, Oct 16, Critique Day
- Projects are 100 point Classwork grades, and are not eligible for late submission.
- Feedback from the critiques is provided in the Canvas assignment for that project.
- Projects are eligible for re-submission, but only once. They must be resubmitted using the same form as before, and no later than 10 days after feedback has been shared with them in Canvas. The 4th project of each Quarter is not eligible for re-submission due to its proximity to the end of the Quarter!
- Deadlines for future projects are not adjusted. Students are encouraged to not put off starting Project 4 because they've decided to work on redoing Project 3 from scratch.

4 pts Proofread your work. 3 pts What did you accomplish in Media Arts this week? 3 pts What did you learn in Media Arts this week? - NOTE: If you do not describe WHAT you did while working on your project, saying you worked on it is not enough information to earn credit.
