THIS VIDEO REVIEWS THE MOST IMPORTANT CONTENT COVERED IN CLASS TODAY!

  1. Objective:
    1. Students will learn CSS rulesets to better customize their websites.
  2. Warm-Up:
    1. Add the following vocabulary to your notes:
      1. CSS Class - An identifier that allows multiple elements in an HTML document to be styled in the same way
      2. <br />
        1. <br clear="all" />
      3. <hr />
      4. (Remember, all quizzes are "open notes" quizzes.)
    2. Log into Code.org through Clever.
      1. Go to Lesson 11: CSS Classes
      2. Go to Level 1 and view the sample website.
      3. Right-click on the website and select "View Page Source."
      4. If you click the "style.css" link, you will be able to see the CSS code used to modify that website.
    3. Warm-Ups are usually a 10 point weekly Independent Work Notebook Check grade if a written response is expected, or a 5 point Assessment grade if the Warm-Up is a quiz. They are due at the start of class and not eligible for late submission or re-submission.
  3. Deadlines: (Content is subject to change due to various factors.)

    1. Warm-Ups: Due daily
    2. 09-27: Week 5 Assignments Due
      1. Lesson 11: CSS Classes
        1. Today's work will be done using the html and css documents saved on your computer.
          1. If you are doing this from home you can use the content provided in Code.org for Lesson 11, but you should STILL hand in screenshots that align with the rubric below.
        2. Grading Rubric
          1. 6 pts: Screenshots uploaded showing code on one side and how the code looks in a web browser on the other side. One screenshot should show the HTML code while the other should show the CSS code.
          2. 1 pt: Webpage uses a properly formatted CSS class ruleset in style.css.
          3. 1 pt: Created CSS class modifies three different tags in the HTML document by selective inclusion of the class="classname" code inside selected HTML tags. (Use the sample website in Code.org as an example.)
          4. 1 pt: The three different tags are all part of the same section of the web page.
          5. 1 pt: Other sections of the web page are not modified by the CSS class.
          6. -10 pts: Any screenshot includes an image that was not used with permission. (A missing citation = a missing grade.)

    2. 4 pts Proofread your work.
3 pts What did you accomplish in CS Discoveries this week?
3 pts What did you learn in CS Discoveries this week?
    3. NOTE: If you do not describe WHAT you did, saying you worked on it is not enough information to earn credit.
      1. Example: "I completed Unit 2 Lesson 1" says nothing about what you did or learned. Describe what you did and what you learned as if to someone who does not have access to the course materials.
    4. Exit Tickets are always 10 point Classwork grades and not eligible for late submission or re-submission. They are due during the last 10 minutes of the last class of the week.
