4th Grade, Curtis, 09-25 – Video 2

THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS THE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE DAY!

Our 1st semester will focus on media creation, while or 2nd semester will focus more on coding.

Regardless of the lesson, FouloisTech.info should be your destination every time you come into class. This space will be used to provide announcements, lessons, and other resources.

  1. Objective:
    1. Students will create storyboards to prepare for recording and editing video.
  2. Announcements:
    1. No late work for this Quarter will be accepted after Thursday, October 17th!
      1. This deadline is 2 weeks before the end of the Quarter. That time is needed to ensure all late work handed in before then is graded in a timely fashion.
    2. Previous lessons: Audio 1, Audio 2, Audio 3, Audio 4, Audio 5, Video 1
  3. Today's Lesson:
    1. Video 2: Cut Conversation Storyboard
    2. Grading Rubric:
4 Points Storyboard dialogue has very few spelling and/or grammatical errors and is in the boxes BELOW the drawings.
3 Points Story has one character tell a joke to another character, and shows the other character's reaction.
3 Points Storyboard has slight differences in characters and camera angles to emphasize that they are two characters intended to be played by the same person.
    3. Today, Mr. Smith is going to show you how to make a paper storyboard. There are lots of templates that can be used (we've even used Google Slides), but the simplest solution is to just fold a sheet of paper a few times.
      storyboard how-to
    4. Note in the animated gif above that Mr. Smith is drawing stick figures.
      1. This is fine (and expected), so long as their position in frame is correct.
      2. If we aren't going to record your characters yelling from down the hall, we likely won't see them from the waist down.
      3. We SHOULD see if they're on the left or right side of the screen, which way they're facing, and be able to tell basic body posture (arm movements, etc.).
    5. This assignment has been added to Canvas, but this is primarily for students completing this work remotely who need to upload a photo of their storyboard. This is a paper assignment.
  4. You will only have two attempts to hand this in. If your first attempt does not earn a 10/10 you will receive feedback on how to improve it.
  5. This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. Please stay on task to complete this work by the end of class!
