4th Grade, Harris’ HR, 06-03-2024

THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS TODAY'S EXPECTATIONS! (82 days until the 1st day of next school year!) (We have 4 classes left in this course!)

Today's Agenda:

  1. Announcements:
    1. No late work for 4th Quarter is being accepted! The deadline was Friday, May 31st!
      1. This deadline was 2 weeks before the end of 4th Quarter. This notice has been here since the first day of our class this Quarter.
        1. While excused absences can be an exception to this policy, most assignments were due so long ago that the deadline of May 31st was more lenient than PGCPS policy for make-up work for excused absences.
      2. Lesson 3 was due on 4/4. Lesson 4 was due on 4/9. Lesson 5 was due on 4/15. Lesson 6 was due on 4/18. Lesson 7 was due on 4/23. Lesson 8 was due on 5/1. Lesson 10 was due on 5/06. Lesson 11 (& Quiz 1) were due on 5/9. Lesson 12 was due on 5/15. Lesson 13 was due on 5/20. Lesson 14 was due on 5/23. Coding Quiz 2 was due on 5/29. Coding Quiz 3 was due on 6/3.
  2. Today's Quiz: Coding Vocabulary Quiz 3
    1. We will complete this together in class. If you are absent, you will need to make it up OUTSIDE of class.
    2. Today's Lesson: 100 Block MineTest House

      1. This is the same lesson as our last class. I have decided to give one more day for you to build your houses before we test them.
      2. Today's lesson will be completed in MineTest, which I have installed on the Lab computers.
      3. To begin today's work, you will need to complete ALL missing Code.org work.
        1. The smallest unfinished Code.org assignment is worth more in SchoolMax than the MineTest activity. Prioritize your grades!
        2. If you complete your Code.org work during class today, you will have to show Mr. Smith in order to move on to the MineTest activity.
      4. Mr. Smith will show the class how to log in, and the basic rules you are expected to follow.
        1. We are beginning our unit in Creative Mode, with damage turned off.
        2. Each of you will make a 10x10 foundation in which you are asked to build a "starter base." A sign in front of it should designate that it's yours.
        3. You can build up as high as you want, but not down.
        4. You may not build a house that is wider than your 10x10 foundation in any direction (North, South, East, or West), though it may be narrower than that.
        5. You MUST NOT mess with any other students. Doing so can get you banned from the server. This includes, but is not limited to:
          1. Getting in the other student's way when they are placing blocks.
          2. Destroying blocks that are part of their build.
          3. Throwing things at other students.
          4. Spawning creatures that do any of the things above.
      5. This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. (The MineTest server cannot be logged into outside of the computer lab.) Please stay on task to complete this work by the end of class!
