Media Arts Majors, 04-29-2024

THIS VIDEO GOES OVER TODAY'S EXPECTATIONS! (117 days until the 1st day of next school year!)

  1. Warm-Up:
    1. 2024-04-29 Warm-Up: Lab Equipment
      1. You've been put in charge of selecting the equipment for a new computer lab. What's the most important thing that should be purchased?
      2. You've been given a budget of $2000. Find an online store that sells your answer to # 1 and link it here.
      3. If you have any money left over after "purchasing" your answer to # 1, what else would you purchase for the lab? (Include links for these items as well.)
    2. Warm-Ups are usually a 5 point Independent Work grade if a written response is expected, or a 5 point Assessment grade if the Warm-Up is a quiz. They are due at the start of class and not eligible for late submission or re-submission.
  2. Monthly Incentives
    1. Monthly Media Arts Incentive:
      1. "Arcade Day" at the end of the month.
        1. April's Arcade Day is scheduled for 04/29/2024 05-01-2024.
        2. This change is due to the modified schedule on the 1st. Doing the critiques TODAY gives you more time to complete them while also letting you blow off some steam on your 2nd to last day of MCAP testing.
      2. Students remain eligible unless a Notice of Concern has been earned that month for grades or behavior, though a student who missed out from low grades can earn back their Arcade Day privileges if they bring their grade back up.
        1. Check SchoolMax - if your avg is 70% or above, you're probably eligible.
      3. Ineligible students should be working on a project re-submission or their next project.
  3. Q4 Project deadlines:
    1. Q4P2 (Student Choice): 04-26
      1. 04-17: Pre-Production Due

      4. 04-25: "Put Out Fires" Day (Assume no ChromeBook access due to testing!)
      5. 04-29: Critique Day (Switched with Arcade Day due to school schedule adjustments. THIS GIVES YOU MORE CLASS TIME TO GET THESE DONE!) (Assume no ChromeBook access due to testing!)

    4. Projects are 100 point Classwork grades, and are not eligible for late submission.
    5. Feedback from the critiques is provided in the Canvas assignment for that project.
    6. Projects are eligible for re-submission, but only once. They must be resubmitted using the same form as before, and no later than 10 days after feedback has been shared with them in Canvas.
    7. Deadlines for future projects are not adjusted. Students are encouraged to not put off starting Project 4 because they've decided to work on redoing Project 3 from scratch.
  4. Exit Ticket
    1. 2024-04-29 to 2024-05-03 Exit Ticket
      1. 4 pts Proofread your work.
3 pts What did you accomplish in Media Arts this week?
3 pts What did you learn in Media Arts this week?
      2. NOTE: If you do not describe WHAT you did while working on your project, saying you worked on it is not enough information to earn credit.
    2. Exit Tickets are always 10 point Classwork grades and not eligible for late submission or re-submission. They are due during the last 10 minutes of the last class of the week.
