Tech Concepts, Q4, 04-18-2024

Today's to-do list includes the following items:

  1. Warm-Up:
    1. 2024-04-18 Warm-Up: Editing Vocabulary
      1. Define the following vocabulary words as thy relate to video production:
        1. Aspect Ratio (Hint: TikTok does 9:16. Vine did 1:1. Older TV shows were 4:3. Most videos & movies are 16:9.)
        2. B-Roll
        3. Chroma Key (Hint: This is sometimes called green screen or blue screen, but the technique is not limited to those two colors.)
        4. Cut (Hint: This word has many definitions, but for this class you should use the one that applies to video production.)
      2. Warm-Ups are usually a 5 point Independent Work grade if a written response is expected, or a 5 point Assessment grade if the Warm-Up is a quiz. They are due at the start of class and not eligible for late submission or re-submission.
  2. Monthly Incentives
    1. Monthly Media Arts Incentive:
      1. "Arcade Day" at the end of the month.
        1. April's Arcade Day is scheduled for 04/30/2024.
      2. Students remain eligible unless a Notice of Concern has been earned that month for grades or behavior, though a student who missed out from low grades can earn back their Arcade Day privileges if they bring their grade back up.
        1. Check SchoolMax - if your avg is 70% or above, you're probably eligible.
  3. Q4 Project 1, Due 04-12, Re-submits are due by 4-27.
    1. Check your feedback on this assignment.
    2. If you are not happy with your grade, fix whatever needs to be fixed and use the same assignment to re-submit it for a higher grade.
    3. Re-submits are due by 4-27.
    4. As stated in the syllabus, re-submits are averaged with the original grade.
      1. A first attempt of 50% and a re-submit that earns 100% will mean a final score of 75%.
      2. A first attempt of 0% and a re-submit of 100% will mean a final score of 50%.
      3. If the re-submit brings the score DOWN, the original score is kept. No student will be punished for making a 2nd attempt within the re-submission window.
  4. Q4 Project 2: Student Choice, Due 04-26
    1. 04-18: Pre-Production (Assume no Chromebook access due to testing!)
    2. 04-22: Production (Assume no Chromebook access due to testing!)
    3. 04-24: Post-Production (Assume no Chromebook access due to testing!)
    4. 04-26: "Put Out Fires" Day (Assume no Chromebook access due to testing!)
    5. 04-30: Arcade Day (Assume no Chromebook access due to testing!)
    6. 05-02: Critique Day (Assume no Chromebook access due to testing!)
    7. Projects are 100 point Classwork grades, and are not eligible for late submission.
      1. Projects are eligible for re-submission, but only once and with a limited window. These details are covered in the syllabus.
    8. Critiques are a 30 point Assessment grade and are not eligible for re-submission or late submission.
  5. Q4 Project 3: Student Choice, Due 05-17
    1. 05-06: Pre-Production
    2. 05-08: Production
    3. 05-10: Post-Production
    4. 05-14: Primary Election - Schools Closed
    5. 05-15: "Put Out Fires" Day
    6. 05-17: Last day to hand in Project 3 (You should be working on Project 4!)
    7. 05-21: Critique Day
    8. Projects are 100 point Classwork grades, and are not eligible for late submission.
      1. Projects are eligible for re-submission, but only once and with a limited window. These details are covered in the syllabus.
    9. Critiques are a 30 point Assessment grade and are not eligible for re-submission or late submission.
  6. Q4 Project 4: Student Choice, Due 05-31
    1. 05-23: Pre-Production
    2. 05-28: Production
    3. 05-30: Post-Production & Arcade Day
    4. 06-03: Critique Day
    5. Projects are 100 point Classwork grades, and are not eligible for late submission.

      1. 4 pts Proofread your work.

      2. NOTE: If you do not describe WHAT you did while working on your project, saying you worked on it is not enough information to earn credit.
    2. Exit Tickets are always 10 point Classwork grades and not eligible for late submission or re-submission. They are due during the last 10 minutes of the last class of the week.
