Today's Agenda:

  1. Announcements:
    1. No late work for 3rd Quarter will be accepted after TODAY, Thursday, March 21st!
      1. This deadline is 1 day before the end of 3rd Quarter and just before Spring Break. That time is needed to ensure all late work handed in before then is graded in a timely fashion.
    2. Film Festival
      • The Countdown to the Film Festival Student Showcase has begun!
      • We will be hosting our 12th Annual Digital Film Festival VIRTUAL Student Showcase on Saturday, March 16, 2024, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

      • This also begins our People's Choice Voting Window! The Online Voting Window will close at 11:59 p.m. on April 1, 2024.
  2. Today's Lesson: MineTest Survival Mode

    1. Today's lesson will be completed in MineTest, which I have installed on the Lab computers.
    2. To begin today's work, you will need to complete ALL missing Code.org work.
      1. Did you complete Coding Vocab Quiz 2? (1 student still needs to make this up!)
      2. Did you complete Coding Vocab Quiz 3? (2 students still need to make this up!)
      3. If you previously completed your Code.org work, Mr. Smith has a username and password for you to use to connect to the in-room MineTest server.
      4. If you complete your Code.org work during class today, you will have to show Mr. Smith in order to receive your username and password.
    3. Mr. Smith will show the class how to log in, and the basic rules you are expected to follow.
      1. Mr. Smith has set up a starter town for you. Each of you has a 10x10 square where you can build a starter base. If you wish to, you can instead gather resources for others or build a starter base with another student.
      2. You MUST NOT mess with any other students. Doing so can get you banned from the server. This includes, but is not limited to:
        1. Getting in the other student's way when they are placing blocks.
        2. Destroying blocks that are part of their build.
        3. Throwing things at other students.
        4. Spawning creatures that do any of the things above.
    4. This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. (The MineTest server cannot be logged into outside of the computer lab.) Please stay on task to complete this work by the end of class!
      1. (There is nothing to complete in Canvas, I will be checking your work via Code.org. and on the MineTest server.)
