Today's Agenda:

  1. Announcements:
    1. No late work for 3rd Quarter will be accepted after Thursday, March 21st!
      1. This deadline is 2 weeks before the end of 3rd Quarter and just before Spring Break. That time is needed to ensure all late work handed in before then is graded in a timely fashion.
    2. Lesson 2 was due 1/23. Lesson 3 was due 1/26. Lesson 4 was due 1/31.
  2. Today's Lesson: Code.org Lesson 5: Mini-Project: Virtual Pet

    1. Today's lesson will be completed in Code.org, which you should log into through Clever.
      1. There is a known bug where sometimes it will log you in through Google instead.
      2. You'll know this has happened because you won't see our class (53-Elem Media Arts 2023-2024) listed near the bottom of your Code.org Dashboard.
      3. If this happens, I cannot track your progress and you'll get a zero for the lesson.
      4. To fix this, log out of Code.org and log back in through Clever.
      1. This lesson has seven (7) Levels. (I will frequently call them "Bubbles" as that's what I've been calling them with my younger students.)
        1. The first is an "Exploration" Level, where you are shown code and asked to see what it does.
        2. Levels 2-6 are linked together. Completing them results in you creating your own virtual pet.
        3. Level 7 is a "Free Play" activity that will not be graded. Don't skip ahead to this one before completing 1-6.
        4. Because this is a Mini-Project, this will be graded as a 6 point assessment.
    3. This is an IN-CLASS assignment, NOT HOMEWORK. Please stay on task to complete this work by the end of class!
      1. (There is nothing to complete in Canvas, I will be checking your work via Code.org.)
