4th Grade, Nimmons’ HR, 8-30

Welcome to your first Media Arts class of the year!

THIS VIDEO EXPLAINS TODAY'S EXPECTATIONS!

Today's Agenda:

  1. Announcements:
    1. Our 1st semester will focus on media creation, while or 2nd semester will focus more on coding.
    2. Regardless of the lesson, FouloisTech.info should be your destination every time you come into class. This space will be used to provide announcements, lessons, and other resources.
  2. Today's Lesson
    1. Today we begin our journey of learning to plan, record, and edit digital media.
      Grading Rubric:

4 Points Instructions have very few spelling and/or grammatical errors. Proofread!
3 Points Instructions are designed for an audio only format.
3 Points Instructions explain how to complete an interesting task.

To begin, we need a task that we already know how to do.

      Possible task hooks:

      • How to warm up before a sports activity.
      • How to log into an online tool used for school.
      • How to organize your room the way you like.
      • How to record video with your phone.

You aren't limited to just these 4 hooks, but consider them if you're having trouble thinking of a starting point.

Next, we'll need to plan the steps for your instructions.

Your audience is only going to hear you reading the instructions, NOT see you doing the task, so you need to verbally explain each step thoroughly enough for your audience to know what you mean.

      1. Use the text box in Canvas to write your script.
      2. Look for the Numbered List button in the toolbar and click on it.
      3. Write out your steps. If any step starts to take up more than one line, consider splitting it into two steps.
      4. Proofread your sentences and press the button to hand them in. Once you've done that, you will be able to see what other student's have written.
      5. You will only have two attempts to hand this in. If your first attempt does not earn a 10/10 you will receive feedback on how to improve it.
