Today's to-do list includes the following items:

  1. Warm-Up: 
    1. Grade 6 (P4A)
    2. Grades 7&8 (P3A)
  2. Monthly Incentives
    1. Arts Department Incentive:
      1. Art Bucks are handed out to acknowledge good choices.
        1. Earn 25 Art Bucks by May 23rd.
        2. Incentive Day is May 30th.
      2. Q4 Art Bucks will be awarded digitally to mitigate students forgetting to bring them in.
    2. Monthly Media Arts Incentive:
      1. 30 minute "Arcade Day" at the end of the month.
        1. May's Arcade Day is scheduled for 05/28/2023.
      2. Remain eligible unless a Notice of Concern has been earned.
        1. Check SchoolMax - if your avg is 70% or above, you're probably eligible.
  3. Film Festival
    1. Awards Ceremony Tuesday, May 9, 2023
    2. Publick Playhouse in Hyattsville
    3. We now have permission slips to hand out! (Due May 5th!)
    4. Students can "disinvite" themselves by behaving in a way that tells me they will embarrass me during the trip.
    5. Ms. Hogue has graciously agreed to attend this trip with us.
    6. From Mrs. Liedahl, the Film Fest Organizer:
      1. We are using PGCPS buses. They will be at your school at 9:30 and you will return to your school by 1:15. We will call the bus lots on the day before to confirm everything and let you know if there is any news.
      2. Tell your students to wear something nice if not wearing school uniform. Past Media Day T-Shirts are OK.
      3. STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN SACK LUNCHES. If students want sack lunches made by your school's cafeteria, you must notify them in advance. THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. No outside deliveries will be accepted at the event! See below about concession stand.
        • Tell your bus driver to park in the parking lot in the back of the building. You will be directed to come in through the side door, not the front door that faces the busy street. We will be outside to direct you.
        • There is a 56% chance of rain on Tuesday.
        • We will have a red carpet, a repeater background for photos, interviews, etc., complete with paparazzi, and all this will be streamed into the theater to be watched by students as they arrive and get seated. The awards show will begin after everyone has arrived.
        • We will have a brief break between People's Choice and the Academy Awards to eat lunch. Students are to bring their own sack lunches. NO ORDERING from Door Dash, etc. is allowed. The concession stand will be open BRIEFLY for those who didn't bring their lunch and IF they have their own money. Granola bars and water will be available for $1.00 each.
        • When a winning entry is announced, the students who participated in the making of that entry AND THEIR TEACHER will come up to the stage, accept the trophy, pause for a photo, deliver their acceptance speech (Academy Awards ONLY) and return to their seats.
        • When the show is over, they will be dismissed by school. The school buses will remain in the parking lot so students will simply return to their bus when called.Once you arrive:
        • Sorry, but NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED TO ATTEND unless they are serving as a chaperone for you. A recording of the event will be broadcast on Channel 96 and posted on the PGCPS YouTube Channel.
  4. Q4 Project 2

    2. Suggested TImeline:
      1. 5/8: (Project 2 Critique Day) Begin pre-production when done with critiques.
      2. 5/10: Complete pre-production by today.
      3. 5/12: Complete production by today.
      4. 5/16: Complete post-production by today.
      5. 5/18: Export and submit finished project and documentation.
    3. Can only be the "Build Your Own Rubric" project if your rubric is approved BEFORE Critique Day of the previous project.
  6. Q4 Project 4
    1. Due Friday, June 2nd!
      1. Use this link to make sure your entry has been submitted properly, including handing in the right file! (More than one student has handed in the wrong file and then failed to check.)
    2. This project will NOT be eligible for resubmission.
    3. Can only be the "Build Your Own Rubric" project if your rubric is approved BEFORE Critique Day of the previous project.
