Objective:

  • Students will perceive & analyze artistic work (Anchor Standard 7) to get a deeper understanding of digital media and how it can be used.

Today's Agenda

  1. Guided Instruction
    1. Warm-Up Review
    2. Homework Review
      1. In your journal, brainstorm 10 ORIGINAL story hooks that you could use in a future video. (Unoriginal Examples: Orphan goes to wizard school, Boy gets super powers after spider bite)
    3. Goals Video (Due Today!)
      • ► 25% Video informs the viewer of the student's goals for this year in a way that is NOT just "talking heads."
      • ►25% Video is one continuous, unedited shot, but still has a title and credits.
      • ►25% Video includes some form of dancing. [Class Choice]
      • ►25% Video is between 1 and 3 minutes TRT. [Class Choice]
    4. Critique Day!
      1. Critique form shared via Google Classroom
      2. ONLY work handed in via Google Classroom will be critiqued.
      3. You are allowed & encouraged to critique your own project.
      4. Each critique has 3 parts:
        1. Score
          1. Point choices are limited to avoid nitpicking.
            1. 25 points: Completed rubric item
            2. 15 points: Attempted to complete rubric item, came close.
            3. 5 points: Little evidence that rubric item was attempted.
            4. You CANNOT give a zero.
          2. You earn a score for giving an honest score.
        2. Positive Criticism
          1. GOOD: "I liked how the camera zoomed in on the character's face to show their reaction."
          2. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: "I liked the camera work."
        3. Constructive Criticism
          1. GOOD: "The text might be easier to read with a darker background behind the bright text that you used."
          2. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: "Fix the colors."
      5. 1 point per completed (score, good positive & constructive criticism) critique.
      6. -1 point for completing a critique for a project that was not presented or handed in. (Academic Dishonesty)
        1. Not relevant for this project, all students handed in a video.
      7. Critiques will be anonymized and shared with the project creators.
    5. Door Scene Video
      • Plot
        1. Character approaches a door.
